Managing Director of Sohar Free Trade Zone in Oman Jamal Aziz said this port could be a food trade hub between Iran and Brazil.

He made the remarks in a meeting on Iran-Oman trade in the venue of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mine and Agriculture on Monday.
Aziz, who is deputy Head of Sohar Industrial Port Company (SIPC), said that Brazil ranks first in supplying food products to Iran and other Persian Gulf countries followed by India and Australia.
The Omani trade official said that in 2014 Brazil exported five million tons of food products to Iran, which were transferred through 'Jebel Ali' Port in the United Arab Emirates to Iran.
Aziz added 'We will offer a trade model to Iran to import all its food products from Brazil through Sohar Free Trade Zone.'
He also enumerated the infrastructures and other privileges of Sohar, like tax and customs tariff exemption and giving loans by 4 to 6 percent interest rate.
Sohar is located 240 kilometers from Muscat, capital of Oman.
