The 36th International Exhibition of Agricultural Industries, Foodstuffs, Machinery, and Related Industries of Iran (Agrofood 2023) is currently taking place from 17th to 20th June at the permanent location of international exhibitions, with the presence of domestic and foreign companies. In this exhibition, the National Association of Iranian Dates has prepared its first specialized pavilion for its members.
Dates: A profitable industry with high added value
In a press conference held by the National Association of Iranian Dates at the Iran Chamber of Commerce, "Hadi Moghadam," the Vice President of the National Association of Iranian Dates, stated: "We believe that according to the statistics of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Organization for the Development of Trade and Industry, dates have a special place in the economy and, considering the diversity of Iranian dates, can be a profitable industry with high added value for Iran."
Moghadam added: "Regarding the Agrofood Exhibition, based on our experiences in previous years, especially in date-producing provinces, we have come to the conclusion that it is better to showcase the achievements of the association at the national level."
He continued: "With these interpretations, this year, for the first time, the association's specialized pavilion will be held at the Agrofood Exhibition, and we aim to showcase the achievements of the stakeholders in this sector and the National Association of Iranian Dates at this exhibition, which is considered the largest food industry exhibition in the country."
Showcasing the capabilities of the date industry at the Agrofood Exhibition
The Vice President of the National Association of Iranian Dates also mentioned: "In fact, at this exhibition, the best date industry companies in all fields, such as production, packaging, and processing, will be present. Among other measures taken by the association specifically for the Agrofood Exhibition, we can mention inviting ambassadors related to target export markets for dates."
He continued: "With these measures, we aim to showcase all the hidden and apparent potentials of the date industry and provide a platform for further interactions with other countries."
Moghadam emphasized the need for long-term planning for the date industry and stated: "However, there are obstacles and problems in the export of these products, such as sometimes it is indicated that our packaging is not suitable for export markets. This is while there is great potential in the packaging sector, and more than 46 active companies in this field will also be present at the exhibition, showcasing their best qualities."
Support of the National Association of Iranian Dates for its members' participation in Agrofood
Arzoo Jamali, the manager of Iranian Chamber of Commerce's provincial offices, also mentioned the first specialized pavilion for dates at the Agrofood Exhibition: "In general, according to the policies adopted by the Iran Chamber of Commerce, especially in recent months, incentives are given to support capable Iranian export companies in international exhibitions, aiming to improve the business environment and support production units."
Jamali added: "In this regard, the National Association of Iranian Dates, which has always played an active role in commercializing this product and generating foreign exchange for the country, as well as actively participating in domestic, international, and even virtual exhibitions, has a prominent role in taking the pavilion and supporting its producers."
